Alioto’s Restaurant is a classic seafood restaurant now run by the fourth generation of the Alioto family.
Feeling adventurous? Try one of Alioto’s Sicilian specialties that have been passed down by the family for generations. A favorite is Cioppino, a spicy tomato shellfish stew created by the restaurant’s founder Rose Alioto. Or try Sicilian specialties such as the mixed grill, seafood cannelloni, shellfish risotto, or artichoke and arugula salad. A favorite at every table is Alioto’s calamari, served breaded and lightly pan-fried, or Sicilian style, accented with tomatoes. Meat lovers and vegetarians also have plenty of options.
Fresh crab is always on the menu: choose it cracked with a side of butter, or Italian-style with a touch of garlic and olive oil. Or enjoy it in Alioto’s crab cakes or tossed into a Crab Louie salad.
Alioto’s restaurant is a culinary landmark that is still owned and operated by the descendants of Rose and Nunzio Alioto who show the care and commitment of running a restaurant bearing their name.

Cioppino's On The Wharf
400 Jefferson Street | 415-775-9311 | Visit their website
Many of the Fisherman's Wharf restaurants are named after the family that has operated the establishment for generations. It is part of the charm of the Wharf, where the heritage of the Italian fishermen continues to this day. Cioppino's continues that tradition. Almost. We are third generation native San Franciscans who take great pride in both our city and our restaurant. The only difference between us and many of the other family-run restaurants at Fisherman's Wharf is that our family name is not Cioppino. We would have used our family name, but we were forced to admit it simply does not look good in lights. So we settled on Cioppino's, which is what we do best. Cioppino is a lusty and flavorful seafood soup which is uniquely San Franciscan. The origin of both the dish and the name came from the Italian fishermen in the early 1900's, when Fisherman's Wharf was still called Meigg's Wharf. Someone would make the rounds of the moored fishing boats, calling out for for contributions to a common, festive stew. One fisherman would toss a nice, fat fish into the bucket, another would drop in a succulent Dungeness crab, another some herbs and vegetables.

The restaurant has received its sixth Five Star rating from Mobil as well as a Relais & Chateau designation, and reviews continue to extol its delights. The ever-expanding cellar now holds over 1,500 wines and includes an exceptional selection of grand vintages as well as coveted wines from small producers.

Though primarily founded during the Gold Rush, San Francisco really made a name for itself in the turbulent 60's. Political protests, the infamous "summer of love" and of course, the ground-breaking music scene all marked San Francisco as an important and pivotal locale for culture. And take it from us—this city with a past still makes the scene, today. Whether we're talking foot-stomping live music or another 6.5 on the Richter, San Francisco truly rocks! Back in the day hippies used to congregate at Haight-Ashbury, but these days the rockinest spot is the Hard Rock Café San Francisco. Where else can you eat the tastiest burger in town, trippin' out on groovy rock artifacts and treasures, while jamming to the most outta sight tunes? Our mind-blowing memorabilia collection featuring great locals is far out, man! Grateful Dead, Faith No More, Jefferson Airplane, Journey, Santana, Sly and the Family Stone, Vince Guaraldi… these are just a few of the local bands that made it big.
