99th Annual “Opening Day on the Bay” Boat Parade
Sunday, April 24, 2016 | Noon to 2 pm
Crissy Field to Pier 39, SF
FREE to watch from the shore
This is a unique opportunity to see the annual decorated boat parade which sails close to the shore, so land-based spectators can view from almost anywhere along SF’s northern shoreline from Crissy Field, along the Marina Green and to Pier 39.
The Blessing of the Fleet is from 10:30 am to noon in Raccoon Strait.
This wonderful parade has been organized since 1917 by the Pacific Inter-Club Yacht Association (PICYA), which was formed in San Francisco in 1896 to improve communications between yacht clubs, provide uniform racing rules, and encourage yachting. Today PICYA is the only organization in Northern California that supports the promotion of recreational boating through the coordination and dissemination of information for the benefit of boaters.
